What's New for Rave Reports 5.0?

Many people want to know what the big deal is with our Rave Reports 5.0 release. Just as many people want to know if we still support certain functionality for the older versions. Here is a list of the new features and also of some major functionality that still is found in Rave 5.

Major Enhancements and New Features in Rave 5

Delphi 7 and CLX support

Rave 5 is now completely compatible with both VCL and CLX applications (Delphi 6 & 7 and C++Builder 6) and is cross platform compatible with the Kylix version of Rave for Linux

PDF Enhancements

Rave 5 now enables documentation info in PDF files and embedded fonts.

RTF and Text Rendering

Rave 5 now enabled reports to be saved in text and RTF format. The rendering components are much more flexible than the older Text and RTF filer components and work with code based or visually designed reports.

Preview and Printer Rendering

Rave 5 includes new render-based Preview and Printer components that extend Rave's advanced rendering functionality.

New DataLink driver system

Rave inlcudes a new database connection system that allows to connection to a much wider variety of database sources including non-SQL based data. This replaces the older DIBL links in Rave 4.

Enhanced Documentation

Rave 5 has enhanced technical documentation and help files.

Free Rave 5.1 Update

Native charting, an automated expert to error check reports, immediate previews and adhoc query parameters are just some of the new features that are being completed for a free update to all Rave 5.0 users.

Maintained Functionality

Code based reporting

Rave 5 completely supports the code based reports from older versions. Our visual designer sits on top of the code based designer, so you can be sure that code based reporting design will be around in Rave for a very long time.

Backward compatibility

Rave 5 will load and process reports created in ReportPrinter Pro 3.0 and Rave 4.0 with a minimum of effort from the user.

Borland product support

Delphi 4, 5, 6 and 7 as well as C++Builder 4, 5 and 6 are supported.
